DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Attleboro Banjos: (1) Possibly Horace Tifft, North Attleboro, Mass., Patent or banjo timepiece, 8 day, weight driven movement in a mahogany and mahogany veneer case, c1840; (2) Williams & Hatch, North Attleboro, Mass., Patent or banjo timepiece, 8 day, weight driven movement in a mahogany and mahogany veneer case, c1840.
CONDITION: (1) Case has an old finish. There are a few cracks in the veneer of the beveled molding. Some of the glue blocks have been reglued. Dial looks to be in good condition with a few touch ups around the mounting hooks. Moon hands looks to be original, though the bluing is a bit uneven. Bezel and lower door have J-hook latches. Unsigned period movement has straight click, two screws mounting it to the backboard, and rivets fastening the click spring. Nice wood finial. (2) The case has been overcoated with a clear finish. The wood finial is a replacement. Nice Williams & Hatch inner label as well as a repair tag from J. E. Caldwell's repair department dated 1942. Both glasses with amateur restoration. Unsigned movement has straight click with rivets fastening the click spring. Newer banjo weight
