The U.S. Shipping Board existed from 1916 to 1934 to encourage American commercial shipping. Both clocks have good quality round Seth Thomas 7 jewel movements. The smaller clock has a heavy brass case with a dark patina. The dial of the smaller clock has considerable tarnish and some residue from a paper dial that was applied over it for a time. The hands are somewhat bent. The larger brass case is lighter in weight and retains some of the original bright finish with some scratches and spots. The larger clock dial also has some tarnish around the winding arbor hole. Both clocks tick. Dimensions are for the larger of the two clocks.
