DESCRIPTION: France, attributed to Jules, earlier "one piece" carriage clock, time and strike on a bell with hour repeat, the case lightly engraved, 8 day.
CONDITION: retains original "two plane" Jules style platform with ratchet cut scape wheel [similar to club tooth]. The porcelain dial has no chips nor lines, however there is abrasion below 6, where a signature has been effaced, possibly that of Jules a' Paris. One unexplained item on this case is the presence of 4 small holes in the top bars, possibly drilled to allow a bit more volume from the delicate bell. Note early travel clocks often had a knurled knob on the time set, so the winding key is only single ended.
