DESCRIPTION:
Unsigned, probably Massachusetts, box lyre wall clock, 8 day, weight driven brass movement
CONDITION:
This mahogany case and gilt front lyre timepiece.was made by a skilled cabinetmaker. The gilt front has a small chip on the left side top and at the top edge of the bottom bracket. Both original tablets have some restoration in an attempt to correct lifting paint. The person who made this timepiece used a Chelsea movement and had to gouge out the bottom board to allow for the swing of the pendulum. Original dial has light surface scratches. Original hands. The Chelsea movement with the serial No. 183955 dates to 1927.
