DESCRIPTION:
France, gravity clock, 8 day, time only, weight driven rack-and-pinion movement with lever platform escapement in a oak case with four turned post and broken arch top, roman numeral white enamel dial with arabic red numerals at the quarters, blued steel spade hands
CONDITION:
figured oak case with original finish has been nicely rubbed down. Dial and hands are very good. The stone-like composite surrounding the movement has been repaired, but this is hard to detect. Balance and hairspring appear to be sound, but the escape wheel does not have adequate end-shake to move freely, so the movement will require service. Movement is stamped "MADE IN FRANCE" and "PAT 2314910". A nicely made gravity clock.
