AUCTION : 0519

Lot#: 142

DESCRIPTION: Warren Telechron Co., Ashland, Mass., "Master Clock Type B" for current regulation, 110v motor combined with quality spring driven movement in an oak case with silvered metal dial and single hand to indicate deviations for 60Hz.
CONDITION: this clock is about as good as it gets. Original finish on solid oak case with mild crazing. Dial silvering is very slightly oxidized, but still very good. This clock is serial number 498. Prior to this device, regulating the cycles of AC current at 60 Hz was very hit or miss. Invented by Henry Warren, this clock helped the station operators adjust the generator output to average 60 cycles per second. The spring driven side of the master clock movement would be corrected each day, and made to run with extreme accuracy. A time train is also powered by a 60 Hz synchronous motor, and the single large hand indicates, to either the left or right, deviation from that frequency. For additional info, see NAWCC Bulletin from 1991 titled "Henry Warren and His Master Clocks". A very nice example of the Master B.
