DESCRIPTION:
Jahresuhrenfabrik, Triberg, Germany, "Model No. 235"400-day clock, year running, time only, spring driven brass movement with torsion pendulum in an Art Nouveau style brass case with glazed front, sides, and back, brass dial with stylized arabic numerals, black steel hands, and disc pendulum.
CONDITION:
the case is in excellent condition with only minor tarnish. The black shellac that once filled the numeral depressions is not mostly absent. Proper disc pendulum. Minute hand appears to be a bit short. The movement back plate corresponds to Terwilliger's plate number 1051, attributed to Jahresuhrenfabrik with an approximate date of 1907. The stamps read "D.R.P. No. 144688 / U.S. P. No. 751686". The suspension is complete. This model is shown in Terwilliger's reference book on 400-day clocks in the section entitled "Some Outstanding Pre-World War I 400-Day Clocks"as example 26, having been found in a Jahresuhrenfabrik catalog from 1905. This is a rare and attractive model.
