DESCRIPTION:
Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., "Regulator No. 1 Extra" wall clock, weight driven timepiece movement with maintaining power in a burl walnut veneered case.
CONDITION:
With the exception of a few very small dings, the case is in excellent condition and the burl walnut veneer is very attractive. The original painted dial is in good condition with several small areas of inpainting and some strengthening to the numerals. The movement is unsigned. The hands are original. The case interior shows a Plymouth Hollow label. This is likely a recent addition since the case for this model would have had the S. B. Terry style round movement rather than the trapezoidal movement had the clock been from the 1865-1870 period. The upper door glass is original. The lower door glass has age and may well be original with its gilt design and black backing.
