AUCTION : 0519

Lot#: 772

DESCRIPTION: C. & E. Marshall Co., Chicago, Ill., compound cross slide for 8mm watchmaker's lathe, three graduated wheels for manipulating the tool post, protractor arc from-50 to +50 degrees, dull nickel plated finish.
CONDITION: this useful accessory is in very nice condition. Brass is showing through on the ends of the handles where they are held by the operator. No tool post is included. Though Marshall lathes often used the groove in the center of the bed to align tools and accessories, this cross slide comes with a shoe mounted to the bottom (much like what one would find on a Derbyshire) This will allow you to mount the cross slide perpendicular to the bed on lathes with the ways on the outside edges of the bed. Aligning this cross slide to a Marshall, Peerless, or Moseley lathe with ways on the inner groove may require some ingenuity. The tool is signed on the top.
