DESCRIPTION:
F. Kroeber Clock Co., New York, NY, "Indian Hunter V.P." mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven brass movement in a metal front case depicting a hunter with a bow and arrow standing next to his alert canine companion, papered metal dial, and black steel Maltese style hands.
CONDITION:
the finish has worn off from most of the case. The Kroeber catalog listed this clock as " bronze" but meant a bronze-colored finish over the cast spelter. Impressions inside the cast spelder door identify this as a Nicholas Muller No. 181 case. Original paper dial is soiled with wear and abrasions but is still quite legible. Original hands and nice patented Kroeber pendulum. This statue is reported to have been copied from the original by John Quincy Adams Ward, which was completed in 1886 and now stands in Central Park, New York. A well-executed statuette makes this a handsome clock.
