DESCRIPTION:
Chelsea Clock Co., Boston, Mass., for Rattermann Co., "Base and Ball" shelf clock, 8 day, time and ship's bell strike, spring driven movement with jeweled lever escapement in a bronze finish case, 5 inch chapter ring on a silvered dial with arabic numerals and blued steel hands.
CONDITION:
original bronze finish is very good with some slight spotting of the protective lacquer. Silvered dial is very good and signed "Rattermann" in addition to "Chelsea / Ships's Bell". Small amount of oxidation on the hands. The signed movement is serial number 551118. The clock strikes readily. The balance is good, but probably needs cleaning. Please note: Chelsea marketed this model with the 5 inch chapter as having a 6 inch dial.
