DESCRIPTION:
William Kipling, London, an early 18th century silver pair cased pocket watch, key wind and set gilt full plate movement with pierced and engraved balance cock, Tompion regulator, decorative blued steel work, and verge escapement, in a silver pair case, the outer case back engraved "John Wilson Stainmoor" and silver, roman numeral champleve dial with arabic five minute markers, blued steel beetle and poker hands, serial #1304, 55mm, c1730.
CONDITION:
CASE: Outer case with old repairs; Outer case with numerous small, shallow dents; Fine scratches on surface of outer case; Inner case with numerous dings and small dents; Inside of inner case abraded; Outer case hinge worn; Bow replaced. DIAL: Dial now with red soft enamel between numerals, otherwise very good. HANDS: Oxidation. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scratches on plate; Small amount of solder residue at center of balance cock; Case catch screw replaced; A few screws with specks of oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks)
