DESCRIPTION:
J.C. Brown, Bristol, Conn., iron front shelf clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven brass movement in an iron front case with mother of pearl inlay within floral painting, stenciled gold painted borders, painted metal dial and steel club hands.
CONDITION:
the case is in very good condition. Good detail and color on the painted decorations. The unsigned metal dial has a tiny amount darkening to a clear over coat. Nice club hands. The movement is signed "J.C. Brown / Forestville CT / U.S.A.". Small brass plates have been soldered to the surface of the front plate to deal with a couple of worn pivot holes. An unusually nice example of this early style iron front.
