DESCRIPTION: France, unusual table clock, 30 hour, time and animated fountain, Swiss verge movement in a patinated bronze Gothic style case, the base containing a cut glass reservoir, the front corners with gryphon feet, case front with niche, trimmed with cast foliate ornament and grotesque mask, a twisted glass rod which rotates under power of a concealed movement simulates water pouring from the mouth of the mask, frosted glass dial with painted roman numerals.
CONDITION: the case is somewhat dirty but retains much of the original surface. The base of niche has some rust in the deep sections. The foliate ornament in front is loose. The glass rod was broken and repaired a bit off-center. The pivot hole for the pinion driving the glass rod is badly worn, keeping it from engaging with the driving wheel consistently. The glass reservoir has a few flakes. The dial has some touch-ups and base has been glued into bezel. The minute hand is a replacement. Both movements are running. The fountain movement needs service. Probably once lived under a glass dome to keep dust off the larger of the two movements.
