DESCRIPTION: American Waltham Watch Co., Waltham, Mass., a late 19th century model 1888 pocket watch, 16 size, 11 jewels, stem wind and set gilt plate movement with lever escapement and cut bimetallic balance in a 14 karat yellow gold engraved hunting case with engraved cipher on front cover, and dedication on cuvette, roman numeral, outer black five minute markers, single sunk white enamel dial with blued steel spade hands, serial #5395604, 116.6g TW
CONDITION: CASE: A few dents, back; Dent in front cover at hinge; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Cuvette with a few shallow dents; Front cover extends beyond 90 degrees when opened, 105 deg.; Bow and crown with minor wear; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: A few minor scratches, otherwise very good. HANDS: Minor oxide. MOVEMENT PLATES: Very fine scratches on plate; barrel bridge with two, fine concentric scratches around a screw; Ratchet wheel with small spot of oxide; Regulator with a few specks of oxide; Specks of dirt. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Stem is difficult to pull for setting.
