DESCRIPTION: Elgin National Watch Co., Elgin, Illinois, a late 19th century grade 84 pocket watch with sweep seconds, 16 size, 16 jewels, stem wind and lever set damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement and cut bimetallic balance in a 10 karat, rose gold, engraved, box hinge hunting case, roman numeral, outer black 5-minute markers and 1/5 second divisions, white enamel dial with blued steel hands, serial #926373, 117.5g TW
CONDITION: CASE: Case has housed another movement; Dents, front, below pendant; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Engraving with moderate wear; Front cover hinge pin replaced; Front cover hinge loose; Bow replaced; Crown replaced and with wear; Precious metal content tested. DIAL: Very good. HANDS: Seconds an incorrect replacement. MOVEMENT PLATES: Very fine scratches on plate; balance cock with scratches and evidence of corrosion; Sweep cock with gouging around screw; Sweep seconds drive wheel with discoloration; Specks of dirt. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks).
