DESCRIPTION: Howard & Davis, Boston, Mass., "No. 1 Regulator" hanging banjo clock in a rosewood grain painted cherry case with reverse painted throat and lower tablets, roman numeral painted iron dial with blued steel diamond hands and subsidiary seconds, eight day, time only, weight driven movement with maintaining power and dead beat escapement
CONDITION: cherry case has been refinished to a lighter hue with restored rosewood graining, overall in very good condition with a few minor surface dings to throat and lower door moldings and a surface crack to the bezel at the 12 position, all glasses are replacements with reverse painted design that is inappropriate for this clock, heavy painted iron dial has age and looks to be original, original hands, weight baffle is original, heavy duty movement is signed, case components stamped "9" at the factory, rod retains its gilding with some areas of the bole under layer showing, brass covered lead pendulum bob good with no visible dents and a surface spot at the 4 position, light evidence of original damascening showing
