South Bend Watch Co., South Bend, Indiana, a grade 329 "The Studebaker" pocket watch, 18 size, 21 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, ornately damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance with gold screws, gold jewel settings, and micrometric regulator in a 3 oz., coin silver, hinged back and bezel, engraved open face case, arabic numeral, double sunk white enamel dial with blued steel spade hands, serial #579171
CONDITION:
CASE: Case has housed another movement; Dents to band and back; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches and spot of abrasion on inner surface of case; Very fine scratches, spot of abrasion and pin pricks on cuvette; Engraving with moderate wear; Crystal with a few minor edge chips; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Dirty and with hairlines; Minor loss to enamel at edge, 8:00. HANDS: Minute replaced. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches and marks on plate; small clusters of scratches at case screws; Three endstone settings with marring; Regulator assembly with minor scratches and specks of oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Balance out of flat.
