DESCRIPTION: Elgin National Watch Co., Elgin, Illinois, an early 20th century gold pocket watch with fancy dial, 16 size, 17 jewels, stem wind and set, damascened, nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, and Moseley micrometric regulator in a 14 karat, rose gold, engine turned and engraved hunting case, arabic numeral, single sunk O'Hara style multicolor enamel dial with gilt Louis XIV style hands, serial #14470179, 103.8g TW
CONDITION: CASE: Case has housed another movement; A few shallow dents; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Front cover with gaps at band when closed; Pushing crown does not release front cover; Front cover extends beyond 90 degrees when opened, 95 deg.; Acrylic crystal; Bow with minor wear; Pendant with gold solder repair at joint with bow; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: A few flakes at edge below 6:00, otherwise very good. HANDS: Very good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scattered very fine scratches on plate; Pin pricks; Very fine scratches on winding wheels; Regulator with tiny dents; Regulator assembly with oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Low amplitude, needs service.
