DESCRIPTION: Illinois Watch Co., Springfield, Illinois, an early 20th century 60 hour "Sangamo Special" pocket watch, 17 size, 23 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted to 6 positions, temperature and isochronism, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance with gold screws, gold jewel settings, gold wheel train, and whiplash micrometric regulator in a hinged back and bezel, engraved, open face Sangamo Special case, Canadian 24 hour arabic numeral, single sunk metal dial with marginal minutes, and blued steel Sangamo hands, serial #4720572
CONDITION: CASE: Small dent, edge of back; Dings; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches and pin pricks on cuvette; Engraving with moderate wear; Gold filled with moderate brassing; Crown worn; Case knife scratches and marring; Rear cover snap worn. DIAL: Minor scuffs and fine scratches; Minor losses to paint; Tarnish. HANDS: Minor oxide and losses to blue. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches and pin pricks on plate; Ratchet wheel with very fine scratches; Ratchet wheel with localized oxide; Regulator assembly with minor oxide; Center wheel with scratches and marring from contact with ratchet wheel.
