DESCRIPTION: Columbus Watch Co., Columbus, Ohio, a late 19th century "North Star" pocket watch, 18 size, 15 jewels, stem wind and lever set, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance and micrometric regulator in a 14 karat yellow gold, engraved hunting case, with applied, four color gold ornament, the back with eight point star set with a single diamond, and engraved dedication on gold cuvette, arabic numeral, single sunk, O'Hara style multicolor enamel dial with blued steel spade and poker hands, serial #298364, 142.5g TW
CONDITION: CASE: Case has housed another movement; Small, shallow dent, back; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Thin collar on pendant with denting below bow; Pendant with wear allowing excessive lateral movement of crown; Lacking one hinge plug; Pressing crown sometimes fails to release catch; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines; Loss at 7:00; Scratches; Edge flakes. HANDS: Replaced. MOVEMENT PLATES: Numerous scratches; Dings and pin pricks; Regulator spring with scratches; One barrel bridge screw replaced; Specks of dirt. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Low amplitude, needs service.
