DESCRIPTION: France, a large figural mantel or table clock with conical pendulum, the black slate case with paw feet and honeysuckle returns supporting the canted base below a cylindrical case with projecting sides and front, and with conforming, molded top, the case with gilt, incised line ornament, and surmounted by a patinated spelter figure of a young woman with amphora cradled in her right hand, the left held aloft and supporting the conical pendulum with blue spherical bob mounted with silver stars, roman numeral black slate dial with gilt spade hands, eight day two train movement striking the hours and half hour on a bell, together with a pair of associated, patinated spelter ewers with caryatid and gryphon handles, goat heads and festoons, medallion with mask, and foliate ornamented foot, on japanned and faux griotte marble cast iron bases with gilt, incised line ornament
CONDITION: case with repairs and now with black lacquer finish, lacquer with losses on case sides, some losses and touch up to gilding in the incised line ornament, figure good, dial very good, hands good, pendulum sphere replaced, movement very oily, escapement functional but insufficient power is being transmitted to keep the pendulum in motion, movement striking, movement needs service, ewers with minor oxide and losses to finish
